LCA’s Holiday Elves Are Hard at Work Again!

Snowflakes were falling on Dec. 18 as the LCA elves delivered gifts to the Salvation Army in Allentown for the organization’s Angel Tree Program (main photo). LCA employees have made donating to the annual holiday event a tradition, and this year was no exception—they filled wish lists for 22 children in the Lehigh Valley region!

The Angel Tree program provides gifts for children of disadvantaged families. The gifts are given to parents a few days before Christmas, so that the child believes they’re from his parents or Santa Claus — preserving the magic of the holiday.

In the acompanying photo, from left, LCA employees Pierce Heffner, Robert Sasarak, Justin Bender, Trissina Trusdell, John Maco, John Bliesath, Steven Kutz, Anthony Nunes, Juan Vasquez, Chris Bogert, and the Salvation Army’s Darian Huaman pose with some of the Angel Tree gifts.

But that’s not our only holiday tradition. We also help support the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley. The food bank can trace its origins back to 1982, when it was formed by the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, and was called the Lehigh Valley Food Bank.

The food bank started out with a network of about 15 agencies in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Today it’s called Second Harvest Food Bank, and serves 200 agencies across six counties: Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, and Wayne counties.

This year, LCA employees gathered and donated 202 pounds of non-perishable foods to Second Harvest on Dec. 15!

In the photo, LCA workers Joey Lynch, Justin Watt, and Don Davies pose with the food before it’s loaded for transport.

“Our employees always step up in support of our community, which is great to see! Their holiday spirit shined through again this year with these terrific contributions to help those in need,” says LCA Communications Manager Susan L. Sampson.

“Employees are what make LCA a fun and rewarding place to work,” says LCA CEO Liesel Gross. “Thank you for all you do for each other and for the community!”
